I was surprise to see that when I launched my boat on July 2nd I was charged $20. I contacted the city to see if this was some sort of error, since the posted sign clearly stated that parking with a trailer was $10/day. The response from the parking department was that this was not an error, and that new rates for Fourth of July, Memorial day, and Labor day (and possibly other holidays) would be $20.
He went on to let me know that Pompano beach is now implementing a seasonal parking rate which will also be enforced at Alsdorf. The new hourly rate for cars is $1.25 for off season, $1.75 for season, and 2.25 for holidays. Since the off season rate for trailers is $10 and $20 for holidays, my guess the new parking rate for the boat ramp will be $15.
Am I the only one that thinks this is excessive? I asked about the possibility of offering an annual pass like Miami-Dade has, but was told that the city does not own all of alsdorf park so they can not offer an annual pass. There was a request made in 2015 to offer an annual pass but it was denied (not sure who the other owner is, perhaps Broward county)
